System and Product Design

For Synerject, system engineering is an interdisciplinary field of engineering that focuses on how complex engineering projects should be designed and managed. The complexity of Engine Management System is highly linked to the numerous fields of skills which are to be combined for their development:

  • Mechanics (components, environment etc.)
  • Electronics (ECU, components etc.)
  • Automatic control engineering
  • Software (I/O, communication etc.)
  • Hydraulics (air, fuel etc.)
  • Combustion (torque, emission etc.)
  • Dynamics (vehicle etc.)

With a team of more than 30 engineers covering each of these fields, Synerject has developed our unique expertise in system development for all types of applications: motorcycles, scooters, auto rickshaws, boats, snowmobiles, ATVs, and utility. Synerject has three centers of expertise that are close to our manufacturing facilities and responsible for product design.


System and Product Design

The key system design approach is to develop generic platforms capable of addressing the needs of several applications and customers. Using this approach, we are able to provide our customers access to up-to-date and optimized products at the best value. Our relationship with Continental also allows us access to unique products tailored made to our needs.

While we are capable of performing global system design, we also share part of the system design activity with some of our customers.

From the identification of the customer needs to the industrialization of the products, Synerject makes use of up-to-date tools and processes:

  • Simulation and calculation (Matlab, Amesim, ...)
  • V-cycle
  • Auto-coding (TargetLink)
  • ... Etc.

Our system engineers transform OEMs' expectations (driving feeling, start-ability, fuel consumption, etc.) into concrete requirements such as response time, flow, current, etc.

The overall system performance requirement is translated into the individual component performance requirement:

  • Engine control Unit (ECU)
  • Software
  • Fuel pump
  • Fuel injector
  • Sensors
  • Throttle Body
  • ... Etc.

A requirement specification is then written for all these components.





For individual product design activities, the product requirements may be provided either by Synerject system engineers or by the customers. The components are then designed and developed either by Synerject or by an external supplier. In all cases, Synerject handles the design of the key components of the Engine Management System such as:

  • ECU
  • Software
  • Fuel pumps
  • Fuel modules
  • Throttle Body and mechatronic modules

For the components which are not developed by Synerject, we ensure a close follow-up of the supplier in charge of the design. Suppliers are selected only after passing through Synerject's rigorous selection process.
